Hong Kong Conference 2016:

East Asia and Tomorrow's Anthropology

The Chinese University of Hong Kong
June 19-22, 2016

You are invited to participate in a conference of the Society for East Asian Anthropology of the American Anthropological Association, which will be held in Hong Kong in June 2016.  To participate, you need not be a member of the Society of East Asian Anthropology. This conference is jointly sponsored by the Society for East Asian Anthropology, the Department of Anthropology of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and the Hong Kong Anthropological Society. The conference will take place on the campus of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The conference will be held on June 19-21, followed on June 22 by various tours of interesting Hong Kong places.

To participate in the conference, please fill out an SEAA panel proposal or an SEAA individual paper proposal, and submit it to seaa.hk.2016@gmail.com. You can submit either a panel proposal, which should have 3-4 participants speaking on a common topic, and a possible discussant as well, or an individual paper proposal, which is your paper alone. Individual paper proposals we will organize into panels. Individuals may present one paper and be a discussant for one panel, but no more than one paper can be presented per participant. The deadline for submission is Dec. 1, 2015. We will make our decision by Jan. 10, after which registration will be opened, and housing arranged.

A brief word on the conference arrangements: Registration will be US$100 ; participants will pay for their own lodging. Some scholarships and fee waivers will be offered. We will provide free lunches and dinners and refreshments at the conference. We will arrange lodging, at a CUHK dormitory, at a CUHK guesthouse (for which there are limited spaces), at the nearby Hyatt hotel, or at Chungking Mansions.

We welcome your participation and look forward to seeing you in Hong Kong next June!
