Contemporary management studies are dominated by academic research in Western management, which cites many important research theories and successful cases of practice for reference by contemporary academia and the business world. Comparatively, management studies related to Eastern culture are somewhat limited at this stage. Eastern culture has a long history, and over the past 2000 years, it has originated from ancient Chinese Confucianism, Buddhism, Taoism, and Indian Brahmanism, influencing and shaping the thoughts and cultures of many countries and regions such as Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, etc. We all know that the diversity and innovation of Eastern management culture can provide important methods to reduce the dehumanization of capital and foster sustainable business operations. How Eastern culture responds to the development of modern enterprises and organizations, and how the arrival of religions such as Islam and Christianity in the East has impacted local business management culture. These areas deserve continuous exploration and practice. We look forward to research and reflective reviews on business management practices shaped by Eastern culture and the related theoretical frameworks.

Building on the success of the first conference held in November 2024, the Second International Conference on Oriental Management Culture is scheduled for January 24–25, 2026, at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. It will be jointly organized by the Centre for the Study of Humanistic Buddhism of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Confucianism and Enterprise Management Committee, International Confucian Association, the EMBA (Chinese) Program, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Department of Economic History, School of Economics, Peking University, the Department of Economic History, School of Economics, Central University of Finance and Economics, Koriyama Women’s University, Japan,  and the Fo Guang Shan Institute of Humanistic Buddhism. We now cordially invite scholars and experts from the academic, religious, and business communities to contribute papers.

Conference Theme
We welcome all management-related topics concerning Eastern Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, Indian Brahmanism, and Japanese Shintoism, with a focus on the management culture and practices of enterprises and organizations, as well as the impact of Christianity and Islam on local management culture after their introduction into Eastern societies. Suggested themes include, but are not limited to:
1. Applications of Eastern management culture and religious thought (Confucianism, Buddhism, Taoism, Shintoism, Christianity, Islam, etc.)
2. Eastern management culture and technological transformation (AI empowerment, green finance, regional economic markets, etc.)
3. Eastern management culture and labour–management relations
4. The application of Western management culture in Eastern contexts
5. Eastern management culture and economic history
6. Eastern management culture and innovations in corporate social responsibility

This is an in-person conference. No online live streaming will be available.

Submission requirements
1.  Submissions must be original academic papers that have not been previously published.
2. Papers should be no more than 20,000 characters in length for Chinese submissions, or 10,000 words for English submissions.
3. Please use footnotes for citations and include a comprehensive bibliography (list of references).
4. Please submit an abstract of your paper or book manuscript by October 15, 2025, and kindly provide the full paper or book manuscript by November 20, 2025.
5. All complete submissions will undergo a peer-review process by experts appointed by the organizing committee. Formal letters of invitation will be issued upon successful selection.

To encourage young scholars to conduct in-depth research on Eastern management culture, the “Outstanding Young Scholar Award” and the “Eastern Management Culture Book Award” have been established specifically for scholars under the age of 45.

Outstanding Young Scholar Award
1. First Prize: HKD 3,000
2. Second Prize: HKD 2,000
3. Third Prize: HKD 1,500

Eastern Management Culture Book Manuscript Award
Two awards will be conferred. The specific requirements and prizes are as follows:
1. Submissions must be unpublished book manuscripts in either Chinese or English.
2. Each winner will receive a prize of HKD 5,000 and will be invited to deliver a keynote speech at the conference.

Evaluation Criteria
Submissions will be comprehensively evaluated based on the following criteria:
1. Academic Originality (40%)
2. Theoretical Depth (30%)
3. Practical Value (30%)
Awards will be formally presented during the conference ceremony, with representatives from the review committee providing detailed commentary on the merits of each winning work.

Please submit your “Submission of Intent” form by October 15, 2025.

Full Paper/Manuscript Submission
We kindly request the full paper or book manuscript be submitted by November 20, 2025. All submissions will undergo a peer-review process by experts appointed by the organizing committee. Formal letters of invitation will be issued upon successful selection. Accepted papers will be compiled into the conference proceedings.

Conference Accommodations
Participants whose full papers or book manuscripts have been accepted through the review process, the following reception will be provided:
1. Complimentary meals and accommodation;
2. Waived conference registration fee.
