For Lydia Zhang, a Year 3 English major at CUHK, learning has always gone beyond the classroom. Supported by a flexible university environment and the Co-op@CUHK, she brought her academic training into a professional setting during her placement at Trip.com Group in Shanghai.
As a Live Streaming Operation Assistant in the product marketing team, Lydia worked closely with colleagues across live streaming operations, content marketing, ranking list marketing, and product launch events. This experience helped her see how communication, content planning, and cross‑team collaboration support business goals, while putting into practice the analytical thinking, organisation and presentation skills developed through her English studies.
CUHK’s emphasis on independence allowed Lydia to shape her own learning path. Alongside her English major, she explored courses in translation and anthropology, broadening her perspective. The career‑focused approach of the Department of English further supported her transition into the workplace through regular presentations, professional writing, and interview training, helping her communicate confidently and work collaboratively.
We are pleased to see Lydia’s curiosity, growth and dedication reflected in her journey. Her experience shows how classroom learning can come to life beyond campus. We wish her every success in the chapters ahead.
