The Faculty of Arts at The Chinese University of Hong Kong held a Welcoming Reception on Monday, 7 September for the 2026/27 cohort of new undergraduate students. Professor Max Tang Xiaobing, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, together with Faculty members from departments and teaching units, warmly welcomed the new students.
The reception began with a lively music performance by Jason Chan and Cheryl Kat from the Department of Music. In his welcoming address, Dean Tang thanked the students and faculty members for joining the event and marking the beginning of the new academic year together. He encouraged students to make most of their university experience by exploring the many resources and learning opportunities available through the University and the Faculty.
An interactive polling session, hosted by Professor Wong Nim Yan, Associate Dean (Publicity and Outreach), followed the address. The session provided an engaging platform for students to learn more about the Faculty’s vision and reflect on their academic and personal growth.
The reception concluded with a sharing by Ma Ho Cheung (Year 4, Chinese Studies). Drawing on his learning experiences of overseas exchange and co-curricular activities, Ho Cheung encouraged the new students to enjoy university life with an open mind, build meaningful friendships and stay curious.
The Faculty of Arts is committed to supporting students’ all-round development and helping them realise their potential through a wide range of learning and development opportunities.
