The Faculty of Arts at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is pleased to announce that Professor Lau Chong-fuk from the Department of Philosophy has been awarded a prestigious National Humanities Center (NHC) Fellowship. He will be in residence at the NHC as a Luce East Asia Fellow during the Spring Term of the 2025–26 academic year.
With over two decades of research in Kantian philosophy, Professor Lau has published more than 50 peer-reviewed articles in multiple languages, and has held fellowships at various leading institutions. His fellowship project at the NHC will offer a reinterpretation of Kant’s transcendental idealism, contributing to contemporary debates in metaphysics, epistemology, and the philosophy of mind.
The Faculty extends its warmest congratulations to Professor Lau and wishes him a productive and rewarding fellowship experience.
The National Humanities Center is the world’s only independent institution devoted exclusively to fostering advanced research in the humanities. Since its inception, more than 1,600 scholars from nearly 40 nations have been in residence, producing over 1,700 books, many of which have received major honours, including the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Award, and the Bancroft Prize. Each year, between 30 and 35 Fellows are selected from around 600 applicants. Fellowships at the NHC are regarded as among the most prestigious in the world.
