Fees and Application

Eligibility

All CUHK undergraduates (local, mainland and overseas students) in Arts and other disciplines are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to students

Interested in tracing, exploring and comparing the development of cities/regions in the context of historical and cultural heritage;
With an outgoing personality and friendly disposition; interested in cultivating intercultural friendship;
With an above average command of the spoken English;
Will thrive in a team and experiential environment

20 (10 from CUHK and 10 from Brown)

Selection Interview

Shortlisted applicants from CUHK will be invited to an interview presided by an interviewing panel comprising BCSI senior faculty members, administrators and teachers.

Fees
CUHK students will pay around HKD18, 000 to CUHK. The fee covers tuition, housing, orientation as well as the expenses for the trip to Beijing.

Students are advised to set aside an amount of about HKD33,000 as living, travel and other miscellaneous expenses.

CUHK students may apply for an interest free travel loan from the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) and sponsorship from individual colleges if appropriate.

Deposit and Visa Application
Selected candidates are required to pay a deposit of HKD5000 to Office of Summer Programme as confirmation of acceptance of offer. The deposit will be forfeited if a student withdraws from the Programme.

CUHK students should apply for their own visa (visa application fees: HKD1,120) at the US Consulate General 8 weeks before the Programme starts at Brown University.

Insurance
CUHK students should purchase a minimum coverage plan at USD65. They are also encouraged to purchase an additional health-travel insurance to the United States.
