The Consulate General of the United Arab Emirates in Hong Kong, jointly with the Chinese University’s Centre for the Study of Islamic Culture (CSIC – CUHK), cordially invites you to a guided virtual tour of Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, the largest mosque in the UAE and an iconic landmark in Abu Dhabi, famous for its majestic white marble exterior which attracts over a million visitors annually.
Completed in 2007, the project was launched by the mosque’s namesake, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the UAE, who had a vision to establish an Islamic monument that would unite the cultural diversity across the Islamic world with the universal aesthetics of architecture and art. Thus the design of the mosque combines Fatimid, Mamluk and Ottoman styles as well as modern techniques, personifying the concept of beauty in diversity.
As a testament to Sheikh Zayed’s dedication to promoting tolerance, the Grand Mosque is not only a place of worship but also a message of love and peace to the world.
