Co-organised by the Centre for China Studies, the Chinese University of Hong Kong-Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation Asia-Pacific Centre for Chinese Studies, and the Institute of Chinese Studies, the 17th Graduate Seminar (the Seminar) on Modern and Contemporary China (the Seminar) was successfully held on the 17th to 18th February 2025, with the theme “State-Business Relations in China”.
The Seminar brought together an inspiring group of 26 scholars from diverse backgrounds and regions, including Asia, North America and Europe. Through interdisciplinary approaches, the participants explored the complexities of state-business relations in China, fostering a rich exchange of ideas and research. The event featured four distinguished keynote speakers who provided thought-provoking insights into key issues, engaging the audience in lively discussions.
Participants also had the opportunity to visit the Universities Service Centre for China Studies Collection at CUHK Library and received a special introduction to The China Review journal, further enriching their understanding of contemporary China studies.
The Seminar effectively advanced academic dialogues in the field of contemporary China studies. Faculty members and scholars from around the globe engaged in vibrant discussions and strengthened connections within the academic community. The Faculty remains committed to supporting such initiatives, promoting the continued growth of humanities research and education.
