YIM Sui Fong is an artist who specialises in video, sound and social practice art. By studying the micro-relationships between people, matters, places and history, she investigates how the identity of individuals and groups are shaped. In this way, she explores the potential of human beings in urban ecology, and uses art as an intervention to connect with a broader community.
Her artworks are collected by Kadist Foundation and private collections. HASS Lab is organisationally part of Rooftop Institute, dedicated to advocating art and artist thinking as a new way of understanding and valuing society. She joined the Fine Arts Department of CUHK in 2023, currently teaches studio courses on video art and public art. Her research interests are: socially engaged art, contemporary art practice, video and sound, experimental pedagogy, artist-led education.
