Xing’s PhD dissertation project lies at the intersection of law, bureaucracy, lived social relations, and digital governance technology in post-conflicts Nepal. The project incorporates an ethnographic approach to the laws that (dis)recognize and (il)legitimize personal identity and familial relations in Nepal’s digitizing bureaucracy. She has conducted fieldwork in the Terai region in Southern Nepal and in the capital Kathmandu, primarily based in different levels of government institutions.
