Inspired by my undergraduate days in making documentaries and my time working in medical institutions, I am interested in the untold stories of social suffering and caregiving in contemporary medical landscape. My current research explores lived experience of Chinese aging women’s pain with IUDs (intrauterine devices) and daughters’ caregiving engaged in mothers’ suffering. Through an ethnographic lens, I seek to understand how women endure and dwell with the haunting of suffering.
